Passwords

Every web page you create an account on is administrated by humans. Although not every administrator can view your private information those at the highest level can. In massive sites such as google or yahoo you are protected by a cloud of other users. As such unless someone has reason to search your name they probably won't come across your info or have a use for it. However on smaller sites administrators regularly abuse their powers to check your profile.

You should never use the same password on multiple sites. Especially for e-mail accounts or accounts which store credit card details.

Here are some ways of ensuring your online accounts are safely guarded by your passwords.

  1. Avoid using passwords that contain obvious information such as your name, address or telephone number.
  2. Make a password containing numbers, symbols, upper and lower case letters.
  3. Make different passwords for each account you have online. Try and avoid using the same password for all your accounts.
  4. Change your password regularly.
  5. Never tell anyone your password. If you need to record your passwords ensure that you leave it in a secret and secure location.
